AI product photos: what you need to get them right

October 20, 2026 6 min read

You have forty pieces of jewellery in a box, a phone with a smudged lens and a website that needs photos by tomorrow. The temptation is to ask an AI to "invent" them. The problem is that an invented photo of a product that does not exist shows, and the customer buying online notices sooner than you think.

What AI does well and what it does not

AI images do not replace the product: they present it. Knowing where the line is separates a catalogue that sells from one that looks like a joke.

  • Yes: changing the background, the light, the context and the style (studio or lifestyle) while keeping the product exactly as it is.
  • Yes: creating variants of the same piece for different campaigns or platforms without repeating a photo shoot.
  • No: inventing a product you do not have, or changing the shape, colour or details of the real item.
  • No: hiding a flaw the customer will see when the parcel arrives. That is not design: it is a return waiting to happen.

Requirements you cannot skip

For the image to work, the AI needs a real reference. Without one it invents, and invented does not sell.

  • A real photo of the product: even from a phone, with enough light and the whole object in frame.
  • A neutral background: a white table, a plain wall or a sheet of paper. The less noise, the cleaner the cut-out.
  • Clear instructions: what the product is, what it is made of, the context you want and which parts must not change.
  • A human check: someone looks at the final image and confirms the product is still the same one.

Studio or lifestyle: choose by what you sell

Type What it is for Price
StudioClean background and controlled light. Ideal for catalogues, product pages and marketplaces.€3 + VAT per photo
LifestyleThe product in context: a laid table, a hand wearing the piece, a terrace. Ideal for social and web.€4.50 + VAT per photo

Delivery in 2 to 4 working days; a full catalogue usually takes 1 to 2 weeks depending on the number of pieces.

A working example

Picture a ceramics shop in Marbella with thirty pieces for the new website. They photograph everything on a white table by the window with a phone and send it over.

We return a catalogue in two styles: each piece on a neutral background for the product page and a lifestyle version with a laid table for the homepage and social. The shop checks that the colours and shapes match the real pieces before publishing. No studio session, no travel and the same piece shown in two different contexts.

Mistakes that cost sales

  • Mixing styles in one catalogue: one studio shot and one snap from the workshop bench break the feel of a serious shop.
  • Exaggerating size: a piece that looks like a necklace in the photo and arrives tiny means returns and bad reviews.
  • Publishing without checking: a changed detail on a handmade piece is an error the customer spots when they open the parcel.
  • Huge files: a 5 MB image for a page viewed on a phone slows the shop down and drives buyers away.

Why Solaris

We produce AI product images for local businesses: published price per photo, clear timelines and a human check on every piece. If your website is being built, we can also fit the photos into the design so the catalogue does not look like a pasted album.

And if you sell online, remember the photos are half the job: the other half is a product page that loads fast and explains exactly what the customer is buying.

Frequently asked questions

A real photo of the product, with the whole object in frame and enough light. A phone photo is fine: no studio needed, just a clear view of the material and shape.
Two to four working days for a normal order. A full catalogue usually takes 1 to 2 weeks depending on the number of pieces.
€3 + VAT per studio photo and €4.50 + VAT per lifestyle photo. The price is per delivered, checked image.
It should not. The image must represent the real item: if the customer receives something different, the sale becomes a return and a bad review.
Yes, and it is one of the most common uses: clean background, even light and the same style across the catalogue, which is what makes a shop feel looked after.
